Football

Football is a team sport where players try to score points by getting the ball into the end zone of their opponent’s field. If a team is successful, it will earn six points for a touchdown. They can also score an extra point by kicking the ball through the goal post. On the other hand, if they do not reach the end zone, they may try to kick a field goal.

The game is timed. The game consists of 4 periods, or quarters, with a long halftime between the second and third quarters. Each team has a certain amount of time between plays and downs to move the ball. The offense has limited time to move the ball and get it into scoring position.

The game is played by two teams with 11 to 18 players. Some variations of the game involve fewer players. Typically, a football game is played over two 45-minute halves. The clock does not stop unless the ball is out of play, but referees often make allowances for major stops in play.

Football is an exciting game to watch. Many people enjoy watching the game and even form rivalries with other football fans. Sometimes, rival fans live in a neighboring city. They cheer loudly when their team wins and complain if their team loses. They can watch the game on television in their home or at a bar.
