Important Facts About Football

Football

A football game is played on a field, which is roughly 53 yards long and 10 yards wide. The field contains three parts, known as the end zones and goal posts, located at the back of each end zone. The field of play is the portion of the field that is inside the yard lines, which help players see the field clearly. The area outside of these lines is called out of bounds. Here are some important facts about football. In addition, you should know that the entire field is divided into two halves, each of which has different rules.

Football has its roots in English literature. John Day’s poem, “The Blind Beggar of Bethnal Green,” uses the term football in a witty way. During this time, English students were known to shorten names for their sports. In 1889, the word “Association football” was recorded for the first time. In 1895, the game finally reached its present form. While the game has a long history of lore, some of the names have been changed for the sake of convenience.

In this game, 11 players play on each team. One player is called a goalkeeper, while the other 10 players are known as outfield players. A football field is approximately 120 yards long and 50 yards wide. The playing field is divided into two halves, with a 15-minute break in between each half. Both halves must have a centre circle, a penalty spot, and out of bounds. The playing field must be a mirror image of the other half.
