The Rules of Football

Football

Football is a sport in which players are divided into teams. Each team consists of 11 to 18 players. A football game is divided into two halves of 45 minutes each. After the halftime break, the teams continue playing with 15 minutes of injury time. This gives each team the opportunity to score points. The goal of the game is to score more goals than the opponent during a 90-minute game.

Football is a game that has evolved over the years. Initially, games involving kicking a ball have been played in many countries, and the most ancient form of football was played in China in the second and third centuries B.C. Other ancient games such as the Roman game Harpastum may have been the earliest precursors of football. The rules of football varied greatly depending on where and when it was played. However, it was not until the nineteenth century that a comprehensive set of rules was published.

Football is a fast game, with a large amount of body contact. The goal is to move the football down the field by running, passing, or kicking it through the goalposts of the opposing team. The rules of football are complex, and differ according to the level of play.
